
Elle Sofe Henriksen is a choreographer and dancer from Northern Norway. She has a master’s degree in choreography from Oslo National Academy of the Arts, and dance training from LabanTrinity in London. Her performance Don’t judge the dog by its fur got excellent reviews in 2010 and has since been shown in Russia, Hungary and Norway. In 2009 she created a commissioned work for Kalottspel – folk dance and music together with Sigurd J. Heide, and Silje O. Hålien. Elle has choreographed and directed the dance film The wind whispers’ together with Ken Are Bongo. The film has been shown worldwide and won two prizes. She has worked as dancer for South Sámi Theatre in the performances Sajve Sijte, GON and Gïeje. She has also worked as a choreography consultant for Beaivváš Sámi National Theatre. Furthermore, Elle Sofe teaches dance and yoga. She was the initiator of the event KOLT at Riddu Riđđu indigenous festival in 2010, and arranger of KOLT Kautokeino in 2011.
Elle er utdannet som koreograf ved Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo og som danser ved Laban i London. Hennes avgangsforestilling “Beatnaga ii galgga gulgii geahččat” fikk meget gode kritikker i 2010, og er senere blitt vist i Russland, Ungarn og Norge. I 2009 laget hun et bestillingsverk for Kalottspel – folkedans og musikkfestival sammen med Sigurd J. Heide og Silje O. Hålien. Elle har regissert dansefilmen Biegga savkala… sammen med Ken Are Bongo. Filmen er vist på filmfestivaler verden rundt og vunnet to priser. Hun har medvirket som danser i forestillingene Sajve Sijte, GON og Gieje ved Åarjelhsaemien Teatere (Sydsamisk Teater). Hun har også jobbet som koreografikonsulent for Beaivváš Samisk Nasjonalteater. Videre har Elle Sofe undervist i dans og yoga. Hun var initiativ taker for arrangementet KOLT på Riddu Riđđu urfolksfestival i 2010, og arrangør for KOLT Kautokeino i 2011.
