
Torgeir Vassvik is a singer/throat-joiker, from Gamvik in Finnmark, Sámi artist and composer with two solo album releases Sáivu (2006) and Sápmi (2009). He has composed music for film, theatre and dance, and has collaborated with artists from diverse parts of the world and has toured with his music in Norway and Europe.
He has received funding from UD, Fund for Performing Artists, Norwegian Cultural Council, Fund for Sound and Pictures and the Sámi Parliament.
He is member of the duo arcticaEclectica (myspace.com/arcticaelectrica), Norge beat sound system (myspace.com/norgebeatsoundsystem), LatinoFolkJoik and has worked with Arve Henriksen, Paolo Vinaccia, Reidar Skår, Jan Martin Smørdal, Per Oddvar Johansen, Simen Vangen, Eivind Lønning, Andreas Amundsen, Jo Berger Myhre, Jonas Howden Sjøvaag, Lars Andreas Hauge, Britt Pernille Frøholm, Steinar Værnes and Roger Arntzen, amongst others.
He taught the course Minority Cultures in Musical Education at the Norwegian Academy of Music in 2001-2.
