Elisabeth Blind Gaup
Elisabeth Blind Gaup is one of our Elders. Her knowledge is invaluable and exclusive.
Elisabeth has taught us lávvu traditions, different ways of thinking, and has also led a course in our Summer Intensive program.
Her guidance has even given us the confidence to use a goahti as the set design in our new performance Binnánaš balus – Nesten ikke redd which combines traditional goahti interior with new artistic approaches.
We believe that elders, traditional knowledge holders, should have a stronger presence across institutions and organizations working with culture.
Rávdna Turi Henriksen
Rávdna Turi Henriksen, Elle Sofes mother, is one of the elders we regularly seek guidance from.
She has shared her knowledge of lávvo traditions, which led to the development of the project Lávvobottoš
Lávvobottoš is our interactive performance where we build a lávvo, make coffee over the fire, and open a doorway to presence, listening, and a quiet sense of belonging.
In projects like this working with traditional knowledge holders is a crucial part of our practice. We maintain ongoing contact with Rávdná and traditional knowledge holders throughout our projects like Lávvobottoš. Grounding our practice in the principles and values we build upon.
The work with Elders/ Árbegiehtoguoddit has been supported by development funding from Arts Council Norway, which we are receiving for the period 2025–2026, to strengthen the connection to Sámi culture in our work.
